Notes
The victim was born around 1910, was between 5'4" and 5'6", and weighed between 118-120 pounds. Her hair was dark brown to black. Amelia was the co-owner and manager for the Joliet Spectator, a weekly newspaper where she also reported on various vices across the area including gambling, political misdealings, and local mafia actions. That night, Amelia walked out of the Spectator’s offices at approximately 11:30pm (23:30) and headed to a nearby bar. The bartender witnessed her get a drink and make a call at the pay phone before leaving. Amelia’s vehicle was found parked outside of the apartment building where she lived. Beside her car were both of her shoes, a fact that suggested she was attacked and had prepared to flee based on prior comments she made that if she were in trouble she’d kick off her heels and run. Her keys were under the front seat of the car where she would normally leave them, suggesting she was the one who parked the car there and had at least made it that far. Amelia has never been seen since.
