- Brisker was a popular basketball star in the 1970s but struggled with his temper. After a number of fights that resulted in bodily harm (including to police officers and fellow players), he was eventually cut from the team. He attempted various business ventures that failed and had established a difficult home life. He was not in contact with his mother or brother, and his wife divorced him with accusations of domestic violence. Brisker eventually became interested in relocating to West Africa and he began to make various trips to the region. In 1978, he had left behind his girlfriend and baby to try his hand at opening an import/export operation in Uganda. His girlfriend last spoke with him on April 11, 1978, but there has been no new information on his location since.
