Notes
Burrows was last seen in Anniston, Alabama in 1990. He left home at 8:00am and was last seen driving a Honda 250 motorcycle on Alabama 21 near the Midway community going to visit the home of Karen and Jimmy Steed. He was not seen after that. More than a year later, Burrows' motorcycle was recovered in a railroad bed behind a lake about a half-mile from the friend's residence and three miles. He has never been heard from again. His death may be related to the disappearances of Jeffery McFry (Case #2688) and Karen Steed. The initial suspect was David Ronald Chandler who was accused in 1991 of having hired a hit man to McFry as part of a revenge killing that also resulted in the death of James Burrows. The suspicion was that Chandler (a local drug dealer) though McFry and Burrows had stolen drugs from him and so ordered that they be killed. Later, the 'hit man' withdrew his confession and other witnesses recanted their accounts; Chandler was given a life sentence instead of the death penalty. Some believe that Burrows and McFry may have been killed by Burrow's friend Jimmy Steed, a man who was also a suspect in the disappearance of his wife Karen (Case #2735). He was convicted for the murder of another woman in 2015 and sentenced to 105 years.
