- Notes
- The last sighting of Steven was at the Fair Food market about one and a half blocks from his home. He was visiting the market with his mother and baby sister Pamela. Steven’s mother ran into the market to pick up a loaf of bread quickly. Pamela was in a baby carriage and, like other mothers there, she decided to leave the children out front rather than drag them into the confined space. There were a few other baby carriages parked along the storefront; this was not unusual behavior at the time. She told Steven to be good and promised to return quickly then left him standing next to Pamela’s carriage eating some Jelly Beans. It was approximately 2:45pm when she entered the store. She returned about 10 minutes later but both children and Pamela’s carriage had disappeared. Steven was not strong enough to have pushed the carriage away, but both the carriage and Pamela were found safe located behind the market. There was no sign of Steven; although there was a witness who thought they saw six individuals taking the child. It isn’t clear what happened with this.
