Circumstances

Date of Disappearance
Notes
A Caucasian female was found on banks of Black Warrior River. She had been beaten severely about the head and body, and sexually assaulted. Despite extensive investigation at the time she was never identified and a suspect was never developed, leading to belief she was not from area. Based on her clothing, police believe she may have been fishing when she was assaulted. Two days prior (April 16), witnesses saw a woman meeting her description with an unidentified male, 35-40 years old, Caucasian, 6'1", 180-200lbs. They were in a 1973 or 1974 Ford LTD which had become stuck in a muddy place on Robert Cemetary Road. The man remained in the vehicle and was clearly angry, blaming the woman for the incident and swearing. The woman had gotten out and was asking the witnesses for assistance. Her hair was dark brown to black and shoulder-length. She had not pierced her ears and did not file her nails or use nail police. She had signs of having performed manual labor and evidence that suggests she may have previously been pregnant.
