Circumstances
- Date of Disappearance
- November 3, 1998
- Notes
- Huey Edward Hazelrig was last seen in the Cleveland area of Blount County, Alabama on Tuesday, November 3, 1998. There is a $50,000 REWARD offered by the family for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Donald Fortson and Eddie Hazelrig. Eddie was a farmer but lived with his uncle Donald and occasionally helped him with wallboard work. Eddie collected antique cars and had recently purchased a new motorcycle. Both men had quite a bit of money in their accounts that was left behind. On the day they disappeared, they returned home from a job at approximately 3:30pm (15:30). Eddie made a long distance call to an unknown person and then the two men went to look at an antique car of Eddies. It is possible they had around $3,000 in cash. They were last seen leaving the tire store on US 231 and appear to have not returned home. Eddie's truck was later found on fire on Warrior Valley Road, nearly destroyed. The men had not been in the vehicle, but the evidence was obliterated.
