- LaPlant recently listed as disabled for unknown reasons and was serving as her husband's caregiver at the time. She was last seen at her residence in Lincoln Manor Apartments in the evening of on July 25, 2011. She, her husband, and her friends had been having a party at their apartment which included a cookout and drinking. They ran out of been and LaPlant volunteered with her brother-in-law to visit a nearby gas station to pick up more. The brother-in-law returned alone and said LaPlant had met someone at the gas station and was going to return with them. He thought they would give her a ride; it is not clear if he knew who the person was. She never arrived.
