- Notes
- Ebrima was a political journalist who was arrested by state police in July 2006 for writing articles negatively portraying the president at the time, Yahya Jammeh. Although orders were issued for his release, Gambia denied that he was in prison despite his arrest being witnessed by colleagues. It was reported by the Gambia Echo (newspaper) that Ebrima was located in the Fatato police station as of December 2006 but by April of 2007 he was no longer there. He was believed to have been moved from there possibly to Kombo in February. According to anonymous sources, it is believed that Ebrima died sometime in mid-2008 but the family was not officially informed until January 2017. His remains have not yet been recovered but it is believed he is buried behind a police station in Gambia
