- On Wednesday, August 11, 1999, JOSEPH MAPLES was last seen in Birmingham, Alabama. His family has not heard from him. JOSEPH may be in need of medical attention. Joseph had communicated to friends and family that he intended to leave Birmingham due to the negative relationship he had with the town. His parents and sister had all passed away before him, and it seems he may have been looking for a new start. He left his possessions and two dogs to the human society before getting onto a plane headed for Dallas Texas. He has not been heard from since and while it is not surprising that he left, his family says it is not normal for him to have not reached out in so long.
