Notes
The victim was between 5'4" and 5'6" at the time. Her hair had a 'reddish hue'. Maud was a femal lawyer (the first in Camden) and was employed as a title expert with Gaughan, McClellan, and Laney for more than 30 years at the time. She was very involved in the community, serving as a city council member and as a guarding for a local widow, Mrs. Henry Berg, who possessed a $20 million dollar estate. That night, Maud remained at home alone while her husband went to the Malco Theater and stopped by the Carter Liquor Store. She spent the night on her couch snapping beans and would speak with someone about 8:30pm (20:30). When her husband arrived home about 11:00pm (23:00), he found that all the lights were on inside and out on both of their porches and the tv was still on. Maud had left her pan of beans on the table and her purse and wallet were still there; the car was still parked in the driveway. Their dogs (Dalmatians) were not acting oddly and would normally have attacked someone trying to approach Maud. Although Maud was working with the beans, she also had various legal case files open on the table.
