- Notes
- *The articles discussing Peggy’s case appear to mix up the Warehouse Lounge and War Horse Lounge (both located in Gadsden, AL). It is not clear which one she actually visited that night. Most articles however reference the War Horse Lounge which seems the most likely. That Christmas evening Peggy left her home in Boaz to spend the night partying with her friends in Gadsden. The group traveled between a couple of different nightclubs and lounges including the Chestnut Station and (per most sources) the War Horse Lounge. Unfortunately, Peggy never returned home after that night. They appear to have started the night at Chestnut Station, where Peggy met an unidentified male who took her on to the War Horse Lounge. He then brought her back to the Chestnut Station and dropped her off (most articles state this as fact; so it appears her friends saw her after she returned). She was then last seen at around midnight; it is not clear if this is when she left or if her friends just never saw her leave. She had driver her Dark Blue, 1983 Toyota Celica to the Lounge and her vehicle was missing as well for some time. Three months later (March 1993), her purse and boots were discovered at the Mountaintop Club in Rainbow City, about 5-6 miles away. The club had previously been involved in a fire and was closed at the time. Her purse was found in the pool, which was filled with muck and leaves. Nothing else was found in the pool and it is not clear where her boots were found. Her purse will had her ID and medication inside. Then in May 1993, her vehicle and other personal items were found abandoned at the Forest River Apartments parking lot on George Wallace Drive in Gadsden. It appeared as if the vehicle had been there for a substantial time, potentially since she vanished. There was no sign of Peggy and all fingerprints had been cleaned away. At some point after she disappeared, a police were handed a letter that a third party had received from an unidentified woman. In the letter, the woman had said that she was sick ever since Peggy disappeared and that she knew Peggy had gone to Texas in the trunk of a car. It is unclear if police spoke with the woman, but she was murdered a year later in November 1994. Two men were accused of the crime, but it appears police do not believe that her murder was linked to Peggy’s disappearance. Police have also stated that she might be in Jacksonville, Florida.
