Notes
June, her husband Lawrence Streeter, and her two children from another marriage were driving from Lawrence's parents' home in Altha, Florida to their home in Penn Yan, New York. They were pulling a trailer and he pulled into a rest stop along Highway 431 near Wedowee to sleep for a while. The children were sleeping in the car while Lawrence, June, and their two dogs slept in the trailer. The following morning, the children awoke to June missing. Lawrence told them that June had disappeared overnight while he was sleeping. The children weren't allowed to look in the trailer although the dogs were barked and appeared upset inside. Lawrence took the trailer off and drove the children to Wedowee where he them gave them money for a bus ticket that took them to Bath, New York where they met their biological father two days later. Lawrence was June's 5th husband; they had met at a carnival he was working. After their wedding, they traveled with the carnivals singing as a duet at various clubs and on the circuit. Shortly prior to her disappearance, June had begun saying she was tired of living on the road and wanted to settlle somewhere. She had already left Lawrence a few times previously but kept returning to him. She appeared afraid of Lawrence and said he had threatened her with a gun in the past. Her family reported her missing when she failed to contac tthem by Christmas. Police spoke with Lawrence and searched the trailer where they found his .32-caliber gun and some of her clothes. He told police that she had left and did not return. She has never been seen since.
