- Paula's husband (Poe) told her sister that she was sick but told his daughters that she had gone to her sisters. This raised suspicion about her case and a missing person's report was filed. Police later were told by Poe various reasons for her disappearance including that they had an argument and he let her out at a gas station. Eventually in 2016, he confessed to having killed Paula and led police to where he had left her remains. According to him, he shot and killed her. Only Partial remains were recovered that belonged to Paula.
