Clothing (Key Word)
Pants: Blue, Pants: Jeans, Shirt: Brown, Shirt: Short-Sleeved, Sweater
Clothing (Full Description)
Red and pink block checkered cardigan sweater -- brown sleeves and waistband, mismatched bottom button (not brown like the others), pockets on each side of the front, label on the neck reads "Checkers, size 4. J.C. Penney Company". Brown short-sleeved cotton t-shirt with red, white, and blue horizontal stripes (11 1/2" across shoulders, 12" from neck to waist seam). New, overall dungaree-type blue denim pants, elastic top, one pocket on the right hip (14" in length). White wool button-down front union-suit type underwear with short legs and sleeves, label reads "C-Y is best, age 6-8" (13" across the shoulders and 17" long). Red, white, and blue striped cotton anklet socks with an elastic-top (size 9-10). No shoes
Possessions / Accessories
The duffel bag was US army type barracks bag, blue denim with a white tie cord. It was 23-3/4" deep and 26" wide. There was a label with the letters "R 9700" printed inside on the bottom, thought to be a laundery tag or some kind of ID code. In this case, the "R" is the initial of the owner's last name and the 9700 would be the last 4 numbers in his/her military ID number. Inside the duffel, they found a woman's grey-cord raincoat -- the cuffs were especially well-worn and it had apparently been treated with the 'Zelan' method. It was size medium and would have fit a woman about 5'6" and 125-135 lbs.

Circumstances

Date of Disappearance
Notes
The victim was between 3 - 6 years old, preumably close to 5 and he weighed between 50 - 55 lbs with reddish-blonde hair. A ditch-cleaning crew discovered the child in a blue duffel bag, blindfolded and dressed except for his shoes. The bag was Us military standard and a woman's coat was also inside (see "Possessions" for more details). He was discovered about 15 feet from the side of Route 670 and about 200 yards from Route 250. It's believed the boy had died about a week before but was moved to this location a few hours to one day before discovery based on the weather. Numerous bruises and two cuts were found about the head and were possibly post-mortem wounds. Police did not rule out foul play.
