Since January 2021, China provincial officials have been participating in Operation Reunion (โ€œๅ›ขๅœ†โ€่กŒๅŠจ) – a campaign to reunite parents with missing children. According to the South China Morning Post, an estimated 1680 families have been reunited through renewed investigation and a DNA database matching parents with children.

Some of the stories reported included a 90 year old father in Shandong Province finally meeting his son after 58 years of separation and a couple in Dongguan City, Guangzhou were reunited with their son, missing 19 years. Police are asking the public across the nation to participate – making reports where child trafficking is suspected and notifying police of any suspicious situations.
