Individualโ€™s Real Government IDs Appear in Dailymotion Videosโ€Šโ€”โ€ŠA Potential Breach of Personal Information

A troubling new trend has surfaced on Dailymotion, sparking serious privacy concerns. Personal government identification cards have been spotted unexpectedly flashing on screen during certain videosโ€Šโ€”โ€Šparticularly those addictive compilations of short Chinese dramas.

In these videos, government-issued IDs briefly appear in the middle of the content, unblurred, exposing sensitive personal details. These include home addresses, full names, dates of birth, demographics (such as eye color, weight), organ donation status, medical information, fingerprints, ID numbers, QR codes, and more.

The videos are typically posted by different accounts and often removed within a week, making it difficult to report or track the posters.

While many of the IDs initially appeared to be Vietnamese, recent videos have shown American government-issued IDs as well, such as a New Jersey driverโ€™s license.

As this breach of privacy continues to be reported, viewers are urged to take immediate action if they encounter such content:

  • Report the video: If you see content containing personal IDs or other sensitive information, report it to Dailymotion immediately to prevent further exposure.
  • Notify the individual: If possible, reach out to the person whose information has been exposed so they can take steps to protect their identity.
  • Contact authorities: If you believe the breach is severe, or if you have important information, contact the appropriate authorities, such as local law enforcement or the FBI.

The random appearance of personal IDs in videos has raised concerns about the potential for identity theft, fraud, or other related crimes.

The random appearance of these personal IDs raises serious concerns about identity theft, fraud, or other crimes. While the reason for these occurrences remains unclear, the pattern suggests a deliberate effort to exploit personal data. Both platform administrators and viewers must take swift action to address this issue before it leads to widespread harm.

We’ve added the blue blur to protect the individuals’ identities.

Head’s Up on a strange situation. Recently, weโ€™ve noticed a concerning trend involving government ID cards appearing in the middle of Dailymotion videos. During certain filmsโ€”typically short Chinese dramasโ€”a person’s photo ID briefly flashes on screen. Up until now, we’ve only seen Vietnamese IDs being shown. But the most recent one was the New Jersey Driver’s License of an American. They often include an image of what appears to be personal information, including home address, date of birth, demographics, organ donation decision, fingerprints, ids, and other sensitive details. We added the blue in the photos below. The accounts posting the videos vary. But it seems like there is no reasonable explanation for posting someone’s personal ID unless something untoward is being done. At the least a breach of privacy. If you come across these, please A) Report the video B) Notify the person if you can find them so they can protect their identity C) Contact police or FBI if you think it useful.
