Years after a fateful ten-year promise, Wu Xie’s restless curiosity pulls him from a quiet life back into the shadows of mystery and memory. Haunted by Zhang Qiling’s enigmatic past, left unresolved after Qiling vanished behind the legendary Bronze Gate, Wu Xie finds a cryptic oil painting in a remote post office in Tibet’s Medog County. It becomes a spark, leading him and his stalwart companion Wang Pangzi through snowy mountains and forgotten villages, tracking scorpion beads and lingering clues tied to the Zhang family’s hidden history. Fragments of ancient secrets, guarded by generations and coiled amid feuding families, begin to surface beneath the frost.
Their journey is beset by peril and intrigue: battles of wits with Zhang Haixing and Zhang Haike, unnerving conspiracies, and the shifting loyalties of treasure hunters and old friends. Through twisting corridors within the Zhang family fortress, a place where gravity itself seems inverted and every shadow harbors a trap, the search for answers forces Wu Xie and his companions to confront not only the riddles of the past, but also their own unspoken fears and desires. The adventure behind the bronze door grows into a test of courage and longing, where every discovery brings them closer to truths that have shaped destinies and sundered hearts
