Disappearance

Date of the Disappearance*: August 11, 2025

Description: Zimbabwean national Miss Mabel Gwande, a talented and qualified beautician, has gone missing in Madinty, New Cairo, Egypt. Her sudden disappearance in August 2025 has triggered alarm among her loved ones and prompted urgent calls for coordinated action by authorities in both Egypt and Zimbabwe.

Mabel had traveled to Egypt for professional reasons, carving out opportunities for herself in the beauty industry. Known for her reliability and close relationship with her family, especially her mother, Jennifer Gwande, Mabel’s abrupt silence is completely out of character. Jennifer has described the current situation as “highly unusual and deeply concerning,” emphasizing that Mabel is someone who maintains regular contact and has never gone off the radar like this before.

The last confirmed contact from Mabel was a WhatsApp message sent at 3:01 p.m. on Monday, 11 August 2025. Her last known location was recorded shortly afterward at 3:25 p.m. the same day at the AAIB (Western Union) Madinty Branch in New Cairo. Since then, there has been no communication or sightings, raising serious concerns about her safety and whereabouts.

So far, her family and supporters have requested immediate checks with local police stations, hospitals, and detention centers across Cairo. The Zimbabwean Embassy has also been engaged, urging Egyptian authorities to prioritize transparency and action. Authorization has been granted for agencies to share information swiftly and openly to ensure Mabel’s wellbeing and facilitate her safe return.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact local authorities or the Zimbabwean Embassy in Cairo immediately.
