Samoylenko Anatoly Yulianovich (Самойленко Анатолий Юлианович), born July 11, 1968, was a 45-year-old artist residing in the Leninsky District of the Moscow Region. He was described as approximately 174 cm tall with a large build, short light blond hair, and blue eyes. On the morning of November 15, 2013, he left his home in Sloboda Village (5th Nadezhdenskaya Street, Building 2/4) to go to his workplace at 86 Leningradskoe Shosse in Druzhba Park, Moscow, but he never arrived home.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a bright blue Armani puffer jacket, blue jeans, and blue Adidas sneakers, and carrying a brown leather briefcase. He may have been carrying up to 1 million rubles in cash. As an artist, some of his known works include titles like “Doroga domoy” (Road Home), “Vstrecha s vodolazom” (Meeting with a Diver), and “Ognennaya roza” (Fiery Rose).

The case was investigated by the Moscow Investigative Committee, with involvement from volunteer groups like Liza Alert and law enforcement. Searches included checks of hospitals, morgues, and areas around Khimki and Petrovsko-Razumovskaya station. One witness provided false information, leading to a police inquiry. Relatives, including his wife, underwent lie detector tests, and psychics were consulted, who suggested possibilities like a head injury, kidnapping, drugging with psychotropics, and abandonment along a highway. Despite these efforts, no significant leads emerged.

Multiple sources provide conflicting details on his last confirmed sightings:

  • He was allegedly seen around 12:30 – 12:40 PM at the Peredvizhnik art store across from the Rechnoy Vokzal metro station in norther Moscow, close to his workplace. The store is located at 1 Festinaya Street.
  • He may have enter a private vehicle (likely an unofficial taxi) near Rechnoy Vokzal metro or on the opposite side of Festivalnaya Street, heading towards Khimki ➡️ There are no witnesses to this, it is based on his phone data and potential movements.
  • At approximately 1:00 PM, his phone signal disappeared at the intersection of the MKAD (Moscow Ring Road) and Leningradskoe Shosse, a route that would have taken him towards Khimki but in the opposite direction of his work or home.
  • Some reports say that he later met up with friends in Moscow’s Central Administrative District and was last seen parting ways with them at around 9:00 PM near the Krasnye Vorota metro station.
  • His phone pinged again briefly the next morning in Khimki before going offline again.

It is unclear how many of these sightings have been confirmed except for the phone’s location. *Most of the day aligns with the trip to Khimki, but it is unclear why his phone still pinged in Khimi if he had returned to the city center the night before. Nor is it clear why (after the night out), he would then return to Khimki which was in the opposite direction of his home. Is it possible he was trying to avoid the early morning commute by staying closer to his workplace that night? Was his phone stolen?
