🪦Recovery
Date the Body was Recovered:
Description: Spanish authorities are still seeking to identify a woman whose body was discovered along the M-127 road north of Madrid in 2007, in a case investigators believe is linked to international drug trafficking.
The victim was found at the 1-kilometer mark of the M-127 in the municipality of El Berrueco, her body covered with a sheet and showing no signs of external violence. Investigators estimate she died approximately two days earlier, on March 26, 2007.
According to forensic reports later released through INTERPOL, the woman was between 25 and 40 years old, about 1.60 meters tall, with tan skin, dark eyes, and bleached blonde hair. Her appearance suggested she was of South American origin and may have arrived in Spain shortly before her death.
She was dressed in a black velvet jacket, a white sleeveless shirt, blue jeans, and black knee-high leather boots. Jewelry found with her included a silver owl-shaped ring, a round silver brooch, and a gold bracelet — details that have played a key role in INTERPOL’s attempts to identify her.
A subsequent autopsy revealed six intact latex drug capsules inside her body, as well as a seventh capsule that had ruptured. The rupture likely caused a fatal overdose, and police concluded the woman had been acting as a drug “mule” transporting narcotics internally.
Her remains were added to INTERPOL’s unidentified persons database under the reference ES02 – “The woman with the owl ring.” Despite multiple public appeals since 2007, her identity remains unknown, and no confirmed matches have been made.
