Circumstances (Koşullar)
The three siblings were refugees traveling from their home country across the Aegean Sea by boat with their mother. Their original nationality is not public information, but it appears they were local Turkish citizens. On September 11, the boat overturned and sank, leaving the passengers scrambling. Although it was in Turkish waters, the Greek Coast Guard was able to arrive and save some of the victims. Five remain missing, including Ahmed, Aaya, and Sajjid.
Although the worst is feared, it is possible they were rescued or ended up on the coast of another country. With them not speaking the local language, the rescuers would not necessarily have known who they were or how to return them to their home. We ask that you study their images and think as to whether you have seen them or met someone who might know what happened to them.
