โ๏ธ THE PLOT
The 2016 film Time Raiders (Daomu Biji) follows Wu Xie, a young man from a family of grave robbers, who accidentally discovers a mysterious bronze plate from the Warring States period. His curiosity leads him to his uncle, Wu Sanxing, an experienced tomb raider who recognizes the artifact as the key to the legendary Tomb of the Snake Empress. Accompanied by the enigmatic and highly skilled warrior Zhang Qiling, the team sets out on a dangerous expedition to the Gobi Desert to find the lost kingdom of Tamutuo before a group of foreign mercenaries can claim the secrets of immortality for themselves.
As they penetrate the mountain-bound tomb, the group must navigate a series of elaborate, lethal mechanical traps and supernatural guardians designed to protect the Empress. The story centers on the blossoming bond between the naive Wu Xie and the stoic Zhang Qiling as they realize the “immortality” promised by the tomb may be more threat than promise.

#๏ธโฃ There are many prequel, sequel, and side stories in the Grave Robber Chronicles universe. This show in particular is only loosely adapted from the series and is not considered “canon”. Rather, it is a separate, early adaptation that used the novels for inspiration.
The best place to find information about the original Chinese edition and the direct translation by Merebear is the translator’s website here. The first few volumes of the main story has been adapted into a series of English Translated volumes and one graphic novel. There is no official English publication of the prequels or sequels.
โ ๏ธ Please Note: The shows do not directly align with either the original Chinese or the English editions. Nor do the English editions directly align with the original Chinese. Parts are spliced together, cut out, or otherwise edited to create the various adaptations.
