โ๏ธ THE PLOT
In the quiet of their semi-retirement in Rain Village, Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, and Wang Pangzi receive a cryptic, long-lost letter addressed to Wu Xieโs deceased grandfather, Wu Laogou. The letter points toward a mysterious subterranean structure in the Mongolian desert known as the “Comet” (or Jiezi), an underground palace rumored to be built by ancient sorcerers. Driven by family legacy and a sense of duty, the trio journeys to the barren plains, only to find themselves entangled with a group of ruthless grave robbers led by Wu Lianghai and a team of researchers who have their own dangerous agendas.
Once inside the tomb, the investigators must navigate a series of surreal and lethal “unnatural rules” established by the palace’s original builders to protect its secrets. They encounter singing stone figurines that mimic their movements, soul-warping illusions caused by celestial sand, and a terrifying countdown that threatens to bury them alive within the shifting desert. To survive, the Iron Triangle must rely on their deep bond and a literal leap of faith to uncover the truth behind the sorcerers’ ultimate ritual and escape before the palace vanishes back into the dunes for another seventy years.

The Grave Robber Chronicles
โ๏ธ Author: Xu Lei (Nan Pai San Shu)
๐๏ธ Publication Date: 2007
#๏ธโฃ There are many prequel, sequel, and side stories in the Grave Robber Chronicles universe. This show in particular is only loosely adapted from the series and is not considered “canon”. Rather, it is a separate adaptation that used the novels for inspiration. Timeline wise it is best suited to be viewed post-Reunion though.
The best place to find information about the original Chinese edition and the direct translation by Merebear is the translator’s website here. The first few volumes of the main story has been adapted into a series of English Translated volumes and one graphic novel. There is no official English publication of the prequels or sequels.
โ ๏ธ Please Note: The shows do not directly align with either the original Chinese or the English editions. Nor do the English editions directly align with the original Chinese. Parts are spliced together, cut out, or otherwise edited to create the various adaptations.
