The Incident

Sixteen-year-old Ranjū Kumārī Rām disappeared from Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City, Bara District, Madhesh Province, Nepal, on January 24, 2021. At the time, she was a student and lived in Ward 16 of Kalaiya.

According to the Nepal Police missing-person record, Ranjū was described as approximately 5 feet tall, weighing 45 kg, with black eyes and black hair. She had a thin build and spoke Bhojpuri and Hindi. She was reportedly wearing a kurta suruwal when she disappeared.

Her father reported her disappearance to police two days later, on January 26, 2021. The police record states that she had left home voluntarily (“आफुखुसि घरछाडि हिडेको”). Police listed Bara, Parsa, and Rautahat as possible locations where she might be found.
