Sophia was on a safari trip at Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda, when she left to group to go to the restroom and failed to return. An investigation uncovered her empty water bottle close to a river but no other sign of the girl. The following day, pieces of her clothes (pants and underwear) were located in the same place in a tree. Her shoes (dry and clean) were also found. Despite an in-depth search by both Uganda and Netherlands police, she has never been located. DNA testing revealed unknown DNA on her underwear.
