Notes
Sherry left the First National Bank at around 9:30am and was headed across the street to the Chevron gas station when she disappeared. According to her stepfather, he had given her a $1 to buy a Coke at the gas station's soda machinewhile he went and ran errands at the bank. He returned to the truck 15 minutes later, but did not see her. She may use the DOB of August 16, 1971. Her hair was past her shoulders when she actually disappeared. There have been potential but unverified sightings of her with an unidentified man described as husky (~5'8"), middle aged (~50 years old) with wrinkles near his eyes and a 'weathered' complexion. He may have been a truck driver. One said that she referred to the man as "B.J." The sightings occurred in South Carolina (St. Stephen, near Betaw Road later in the month); Georgia (a truck stop in Conley); Louisiana (New Orleans in late 1984); Mississippi; and Florida. The witnesses said the young woman with him appeared dazed and upset.
