Distinguishing Features: She may have cut her hair and dyed it blonde.
Disappearance: Ashely and her mother had a difficult relationship and Ashley had been living with her great-uncle (Kevin). However, she often stayed with other family members such that it was not unusual for people not to know where she was staying the night. On July 6, Ashley walked to the home of another great-uncle (Keith) who hosted a swimming party. Ashley stayed there for approximately 3-4 hours, after which she left presumably to walk to the home of her aunt (Christina). Although the home was only a couple of blocks away, Ashley has never been seen since. One month after she disappeared, her mother received a phone call from a girl who said โitโs me mom, Iโm okay. Donโt worryโ before hanging up. It is not certain whether this actually was Ashley. In November, her step-grandmother saw a girl she believed was Ashley with short, blonde hair. Ashleyโs disappearance may be related to Ariel Castro who kidnapped and held two other girls (in 2003 and 2004) from a street not far from where Ashley was walking. Kevin (her great-uncle) was later charged with various sexual crimes occurring over 25 years though it is not clear whether Ashley was effected.
